The New Entrant 4 Week Training Course (NE4)
The Course can prepare you for ACS Assessments in as little as four weeks in centre.

Split into four sections to enable you to carry it out at your own pace.

The NE4 is a course designed by ECS to enable people with no experience, to gain access to the GAS Industry. The training is flexible, to allow the candidate to carry it out around their current employment or day to day duties. The course covers training on all of the 15 core competencies required for Core Domestic Gas Safety (CCN1).

CC2 - Gas Emergency Action & Procedures
CC3 - Combustion
CC4 - Ventilation
CC5 - Installation of Pipe-work & Fittings
CC6 - Testing for Soundness
CC7 - Checking Meter Regulations
CC8 - Identification of Unsafe Situations, Emergency Notices & Warning Labels
CC9 - The Operation and Positioning of Emergency Controls & Valves
CC10 - Checking and Setting Appliance Gas Safety Devices and Controls
CC11 - The Operation and Checking of Appliance Gas Safety Devices & Controls
CC12 - Flueing Standards
CC13 - Flue Testing
CC14 - The Installation of Open, Balanced, and Fan-assisted Flue Assemblies
CC15 - Re-establish Gas Supply and Re-light Gas Appliances

NE4 is devided into four sections, which can be delivered at separate times or in one complete block.

PART A (Theory)
Two weeks intense training covering all aspects of theory required in ACS assessments. Some home study may be required during this section, depending on the candidates Knowledge and ability to learn.

PART B (Practical)
One week hands-on practical in centre, covering all of the practical tasks required in the portfolio of evidence.
Tightness Testing, Gas Rating, Working Pressure & burner Pressure Checks, Flue Testing, Spillage Testing, etc.

PART C (Portfolio Building)
The candidate is provided with a portfolio, which outlines a minimum number of tasks which must be carried out on-the-job, under the supervision of a Gas Safe registered engineer. If the candidate can provide their own engineer then this section is FREE OF CHARGE. However, ECS can provide engineers at a cost to be arranged with the engineer individually.
There is no specific time allocation to this section of the course, but the portfolio must be completed in full prior to the candidate being accepted on Part D.

PART D (Refresher course Plus ACS Assessments
)
A refresher course lasting between one and five days dependent on the progress of the candidate, plus Pathway To Gas Assessments followed by ACS Assessments.
